Abstract Figures in Landscape Oil Painting #36 is a bold and original diptych by abstract artist Laurie Rubell, based in Glen Allen, Virginia.
Morover this two-canvas oil painting is designed to hang as seen
As one unified composition—however, you can also display the canvases apart for a more dynamic visual effect.
Most Importantly, I paint across both canvases to create one vivid, continuous artwork.
As my style allows me to explore color, line, and space and the edges within and beyond each canvas.
With each brushstroke, I consider the beginnings and endings of every moment, capturing movement and atmosphere within the abstract landscape.
Notably, this original abstract oil painting took over two months to complete.
And the process began by hand-stretching raw canvas over custom wood frames—because I never use pre-made or materials.
Furthermore, I do not begin with sketches. Instead, I work directly on the blank canvas, letting the first washes of deep blue oil paint guide the composition.
In fact, I use more than 50 different artist brushes and many tubes of oil paint in my work.
Because this wide range of tools helps me build layered textures and create a sense of time suspended in motion.
As a result, the abstract figures appear to drift and merge above the clouds—surrounded by drips, gestures, and shades of blue.
Additionally, I do not reproduce my work.
As there are no prints, nor limited editions.
Furthermore,This artwork is signed and dated on the back of the canvas.
