Laurie Rubell Two canvas oil paintings

Laurie Rubell Two canvas oil paintings
Basically why would I even consider using 2 canvases to make one abstract oil painting?
Because The idea seems more abstract then any abstract painting I've ever made.
In addition,I wanted to create unique oil paintings whose colors and imagery would expand beyond the edges of the canvas.
And artwork that would speak to the walls and interior spaces in which they were hung.
For example, abstract oil paintings can define any interior/exterior space by becoming the focal point
and add a bold unique atmosphere to any space.
So I started experimenting with 2 canvas oil paintings mid career and found the experience compelling.
with different elements of creativity and color, line and space
As elements that needed to be solved.
Perhaps a visual puzzle,
with large areas of color and line to define the space within and outside of each canvas.
As a result, both canvases work together in creating one painting, one unique original work of art.
Because my goals as an artist were to expand my vision and look beyond the physical canvas.
With this in mind,How the edges of the canvas relate to the edges of another canvas?
How does the space within each canvas relate to each other?
Do they attract or repel each other?
Because they create one large area of color or two separate areas of color?
And How do the two canvases affect the surrounding space?.
And what happens when you pull them apart or separate them?
