Description

Late November Echoes – Abstract Figurative Oil Painting

Late November Echoes is an original abstract figurative oil painting by Laurie Rubell, created across two canvases that work together as one composition.

Layered color, expressive lines, and energetic brushwork move across both canvases, creating a sense of connection between abstract forms and subtle figurative elements. The composition continues from one canvas to the other, allowing the two panels to interact while maintaining their own visual presence.

Laurie Rubell paints directly on hand-stretched canvas without preliminary sketches. Layers of oil paint are gradually built through brushstrokes, lines, drips, and changes made throughout the painting process. This intuitive approach allows the composition to develop naturally as the work progresses.

Designed as a two-canvas artwork, or diptych, Late November Echoes is intended to be displayed with both canvases together. However, the panels can also be separated slightly, allowing the space between them to become part of the composition.

This one-of-a-kind contemporary oil painting combines abstraction, figurative suggestion, color, movement, and space to create an expressive work that changes as the viewer moves through the room.
