Dividing the Invisible Star is a striking large-scale abstract oil painting by contemporary artist Laurie Rubell, based in Glen Allen, Virginia.
As this original artwork is created across two hand-stretched canvases
Specifically I paint across two Canvases to create one unique vivid artwork.
While each canvas measures 66” x 48” x 1.5”
and designed to be displayed together as a unified composition.
However, the two panels may also be hung separately for a dynamic spatial effect.
Moreover This bold abstract oil painting took over four months to complete
And was developed without any preliminary sketches.
As I paint intuitively, allowing the artwork to evolve in real time.
Because as an artist I make changes as I paint.
In fact I begin each piece with raw canvas, hand-stretched over a wood frame
And apply layers of purple and blue oil paint to create a sense of depth
While using over 50 professional artist brushes and many different tubes of oil paint
As abstract figures and forms in appear in motion
While Color, line, and space converge in this artwork.
And reflect beginnings and endings—
As expressed through energetic brushstrokes, vivid color drips, and fluid shapes.
